Site design elements include native seashore species that respond to the wind and enhance the view while serving to protect the mainland's natural dune formations.
Further dune restoration and remediation with beachgrass plantings help stabilize the eroding landscape and prevent encroachment on the mainland.

At the edge of National Seashore land on Cape Cod, this new ecological dwelling built of natural materials and solar panels sits tucked into the land just outside the 100' buffer zone ridge on a sandy landscape.
TRURO RESIDENCE
Truro, Massachusetts.

Successfully integrating the qualities of a landscape with the lifestyles of the owners involves acquiring an intimate knowledge of the land and a sound sense of the owners' vision. At the Truro residence, the owners were interested in creating exterior living spaces, and promoting endangered habitats. Their environmental aesthetic demanded solutions that left a light touch on the land, erasing the transition from the site to the surrounding National Seashore. An analysis of dune dynamics, views, drainage, prevailing winds, and the movements of wildlife led to a design that capitalizes on the home's development while protecting and drawing on the site's natural areas.
