SHAW’S LANDING New London, Connecticut
Shaw’s Landing is an apartment building that has a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units. The project is to be implemented in three phases. Sustainable building practices inspired much of the building and site development.
The site is constrained by difficult soils, minor toxic clean-up, conservation restrictions and easements for public access to the waterfront. The project includes improvements to a public hurricane barrier along the harbor. The client, city, and government agencies worked in close association to develop a plan that satisfies the needs of private development and public open space. In addition, the harbor is a part of New London’s riverwalk masterplan. The construction and development of the harborwalk to the city’s standards is a part of the first phase for the housing project.
Heimarck & Foglia, LLC facilitated private and public negotiations with diagrams of easements and site improvements. The site design, permits and documentation have been completed for Phase One. Phase Two and Phase Three are currently in review.
